July 2007 Secretary's Letter
From
your Secretary
The theme for
the AQHYA World Show in 2007 is Dream, Believe, Achieve. How true it
is that it all begins with a Dream. MWRHA hopes that we can help our
members with the Achieve part of the equation by offering our members
the opportunity to learn more about reining, providing the opportunity
to show their horses and achieve their personal goals as members of
the reining family. Ideally, we hope you make friends and have fun along
the way, and it is our goal to offer something for everyone in these
areas. If there is something you would like to see us include, we need
you to let us know. To date, I have only received three surveys back,
( and one of them was mine!). We really need your input.
Summer is now
officially underway, and I hope that all of you are enjoying the show
season. The Illinois State Fair is now history, and it was nice to see
so many MWRHA members and their horses in attendance. The Pizza Party
on Friday night was great. Thanks to Anita Daggett for making the wonderful
desserts. It was a great opportunity to get to know each other.
This past weekend
we attended the Nova Smith open reining show in Mokena. The weather
was picture perfect and I personally enjoyed seeing all the familiar
faces in the pen. The atmosphere is really good for those without a
lot of show ring experience and for those whose names we see in the
Reiner, it is a good place to do some schooling. Thanks to all to attended!
Only one more
show left for us this year, and it is the Premier Classic down in New
Castle, Indiana. Please stop at the show office if you have some time
to assist while you are there. Even an hour or two is a great contribution,
and will be appreciated.
Congratulations
to Gabe Hutchins for a big win at the Clayton Woolsey Hall of Fame Reining
in Kentucky. Gabe won the USEF Open Reining Championship riding Juiced
Up Doc owned by Lee Schild. Tim McQuay and Shawn Flarida tied for reserve.
The next newsletter
to be mailed will include your directory and will be sent the third
week of August. I hope to have the year-end standings for you as well
at that time.
Thanks to all
my new friends for helping me learn the Secretary’s job, and for
your patience while I learn.
